Bounce House Safety Tips Every Parent Should Know
Bounce houses are one of the safest and most fun party activities when used properly. As a SIOTO-certified operator, safety is our #1 priority. Here are the top tips to keep everyone safe and smiling.
1. Always Have Adult Supervision
This is the single most important rule. An adult should be watching the inflatable at all times — not from across the yard, but right next to it. Kids get excited and sometimes need a reminder to take turns or slow down.
2. Remove Shoes, Glasses & Sharp Objects
Before anyone climbs in, make sure they take off shoes, eyeglasses, jewelry, and anything in their pockets. This protects both the kids and the inflatable.
3. Group Kids by Size
Mixing toddlers with teenagers in the same bounce house is a recipe for accidents. Let smaller kids have their turn first, then rotate in the bigger kids. Most of our inflatables can handle ages 5-100, but grouping by size keeps everyone safer.
4. Follow the Capacity Limits
Every inflatable has a maximum number of riders. We'll let you know the limit for your specific unit. Overloading the bounce house makes it harder to control and increases the chance of collisions.
5. No Flips, Wrestling, or Roughhousing
We know — kids will be kids. But flips and wrestling are the #1 cause of bounce house injuries. Encourage jumping, sliding, and laughing — but keep the gymnastics on the ground.
6. Watch the Weather
Inflatables should not be used in wind over 15 mph, rain, or lightning. If the weather turns, we'll work with you to reschedule — no questions asked. Your safety always comes first.
7. Stay Hydrated
Texas heat is serious. Keep a cooler of water bottles nearby and encourage kids to take breaks. Jumping is a workout — even if it doesn't feel like one!
